Hike in the Hoge Kempen National Park

Take the whole family out into Belgium’s green heartland. Spot wild birds, Konik horses, and so much more. You can pick up hiking maps at the reception desk to make the most of your hiking experience. Want to start without a map? This short hike introduces you to the steep edge of the ‘Hoge Kempen’. Over a short distance, you’ll climb about 30 meters. At the top of the steep edge, you’ll be treated to a panoramic view of the Bergerven nature reserve, and on a clear day, you can even see as far as Germany.

This walk takes you past the ponds left behind after gravel extraction in this area. To enhance the diversity of the landscape and the variety of plant and animal species living there, you’ll also encounter Galloway cattle and Konik horses.

This long hiking trail takes you through the forests of Schootsheide, the steep slopes of the Hoge Kempen, and the Bergerven nature reserve. Along the way, you’ll be treated to a beautiful view of Bergerven. It’s a paradise for many waterbirds.

Hike through the Bosbeek Valley to Opoeteren and Schootsheide. Enjoy diverse natural scenery, open views, and the unique cultural landscape known as “De Houw.” A top-notch trail through one of the most beautiful parts of Hoge Kempen National Park.
